NOTICE OF MEETINGS
OPEN BOARD MEETING
(Board meetings are available by audio webcast and telephone.)
Wednesday, July 23, 2008, 9:00 a.m.
- Leases (estimated 90-minute discussion). The Board will discuss the overall approach to the joint project in conjunction with the 2008 Memorandum of Understanding. The Board will specifically discuss (a) the scope of the project and whether to include or exclude lessor accounting, (b) the treatment of options to extend or terminate a lease, (c) the treatment of contingent rentals, (d) the initial and subsequent measurement of a lessee’s right of use asset and obligation to make rental payments, and (e) whether to retain the classification criteria for operating and finance leases.
- Reporting discontinued operations (estimated 45-minute discussion). The Board will continue to discuss the proposed converged (with the IASB) definition of a discontinued operation and related disclosures. The Board also will discuss any remaining issues and whether to proceed to a draft of a proposed FSP.
- Open discussion. If necessary, the Board will allow time to discuss minor issues with staff members on technical projects or administrative matters. Those discussions are held following regular Board meetings as topics come up.
OPEN EDUCATION SESSION
Wednesday, July 23, 2008, following the Board meeting
The Board will hold an educational, non-decision-making session to discuss topics that are anticipated to be discussed at a future Board meeting. Those topics will be posted to the FASB calendar four days prior to the education session.
