Peter C. Spencer

Peter C. Spencer joined the Financial Accounting Foundation in 2009 as Director of Finance & Accounting. In this role, he manages all accounting, budgeting and finance activities for the FAF and its standard-setting Boards, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).

Prior to joining the FAF, Mr. Spencer was the comptroller for Lighthouse International in New York, where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the finance office, including grants management, budgeting, accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable, billing, and investments. From 2004 to 2006, he was chief financial officer of Kabrik Trading LLC in New York, where he oversaw all financial aspects of broker/dealer trading firm, preparation of monthly financial statements, commission billing and collecting, daily trading recording and reconciliations, payroll, accounts payable, budgeting and human resources. He also was responsible for the coordination of external audits including financial statement and NYSE and NASD regulatory audits.

Mr. Spencer was with the New York City office of KPMG from 1996 to 2004, most recently as a senior manager responsible for all aspects of financial statement audits, primarily focused on not-for-profits and higher education institutions. From 1994 to 1996, he was a senior accountant with Krant, Bialick, and Luisi in New York. Prior to that, he spent two years a staff accountant with Olsen & Thompson in Morristown, New Jersey.

Mr. Spencer graduated from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, with a B.S. in Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of New Jersey.
