IN FOCUS: Expanded Coverage of Proposed 2013 Taxonomy including XBRL Data in Use

Program Description: The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) is pleased to announce an upcoming webcast providing expanded coverage of the Proposed XBRL 2013 US GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy now available for public review and comment. This session will highlight modeling changes and include a demonstration of XBRL data in use.

Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, participants will be able to understand the changes in the Proposed XBRL 2013 US GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy and gain a better appreciation for using XBRL data. The areas covered will include:

  • Summary of major changes to the proposed 2013 Taxonomy
    • Accounting Standards Updates
    • Removal of superseded references and 2009 deprecated elements
    • Updated modeling to improve coverage, usability, and consistent application
  • Guidance for using revised modeling, with a focus on:
    • Segments
    • Subsequent events
    • Other XBRL Dimension examples
  • Demonstration of XBRL data in use

Speakers: Louis Matherne, FASB Chief of Taxonomy Development; Donna Johaneman, FASB Project Manager-XBRL; Vickie Lusniak, Assistant Project Manager-XBRL; and Susan Yount, Office of Interactive Data, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Credit is provided only to participants in the live broadcast of this course.
