Dennis M. Kass
Vice Chairman, Board of Trustees

Dennis Kass joined Jennison Associates in January 2003. He served as the firm’s chairman and chief executive officer until January 2012, and was its non-executive chairman of the board until January 2013. Before joining Jennison, he spent 13 years at JP Morgan Fleming Asset Management, where he last held the positions of vice chairman and chief fiduciary officer. Prior to joining JP Morgan in 1990, he was a vice president in the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs.

Mr. Kass is vice chairman of the Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF) Board of Trustees, originally appointed to the Board in February 2009. He chairs the FAF’s Finance and Compensation Committee, and is a member of its Executive Committee.

Mr. Kass served in the administration of President Ronald Reagan. From 1985 to 1987, he was assistant secretary of labor for pension and welfare benefits, and headed the Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration. In that capacity, he was the chief regulator of private sector pension and welfare benefit funds, and led the development of national retirement income policy within the executive branch of the federal government. Previously from 1981 to 1982, he was a special assistant to the president for policy development and directed the Cabinet Council on Commerce and Trade. He also has been a member of advisory committees to the U.S. Trade Representative and to the Secretary of Labor.

In addition to the FAF Board of Trustees, Mr. Kass currently serves as a member of the Lockheed Martin Investment Management Company Advisory Board; a member of MIT Sloan School’s North American Executive Board, and of the Sloan School’s Finance Group Advisory Board; an International Councillor of the Center for Strategic and International Studies; and a member of the National Board of Directors of buildOn, a nonprofit organization that is engaged in constructing schools in underdeveloped countries and operating extensive after-school programs for at-risk youth in the United States.

Mr. Kass earned a BA in history from Principia College and an MS degree from the MIT Sloan School.
