Public Roundtable Meetings on Leases
 
Morning Session: 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. EDT
Afternoon Session: 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. EDT
 
The FASB is hosting rescheduled public roundtable meetings on the implementation of its accounting standard on leases on September 18, 2020.
 
The discussions will focus on broad technical issues that companies and organizations have found challenging when applying the leases standard. Roundtable participants include financial statement users, preparers, auditors, and certain industry representatives.

Meeting of the Private Company Council (PCC),

PCC members and the FASB members will discuss:
  1. An update on PCC town hall and outreach meetings
  2. A summary of the September 21, 2020 meeting with the AICPA Private Companies Practice Section (PCPS) Technical Issues Committee
  3. Implementation issues on revenue recognition
  4. Implementation issues on leases
  5. Profits interests and their interrelationship with partnership accounting
  6. The Board’s project on disclosure framework: disclosure review—income taxes
  7. Current issues in financial reporting.

Tuesday, September 22 Liaison Meeting with the AICPA Private Companies Practice Section (PCPS) Technical Issues Committee, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. EDT

The Board will meet with the AICPA PCPS Technical Issues Committee to discuss matters of mutual interest. Discussion topics are expected to include:
  1. Updates on selected FASB projects
  2. Implementation issues on revenue recognition
  3. Distinguishing liabilities from equity--Accounting Standards Update 2020-06
  4. Implementation issues on leases
  5. Goodwill and intangibles
  6. Current issues in financial reporting
  7. Not-for-profit practice issues.

Wednesday, September 23 FASB Board Meeting, 1:00 p.m. EDT
  1. Recognition and measurement of revenue contracts with customers under Topic 805. The Board will discuss whether to add a research project to its technical agenda to address the recognition and measurement of revenue contracts with customers in a business combination. If the Board decides to add the project, it also will begin initial deliberations.
  2. Open discussion. If necessary, the Board will discuss minor issues on technical projects or administrative matters.

Thursday, September 24 Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council Meeting, 10:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. EDT

The Advisory Council will meet to discuss:
  1. Accounting standards and financial statements in the current environment
  2. Accounting for research and development costs
  3. Implementation of credit losses.
The Advisory Council also will hear highlights from:
  1. The FASB chairman
  2. A representative of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Office of the Chief Accountant
  3. A representative of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board’s Office of the Chief Auditor.
All of the general sessions of the meeting will be available for public observation. The Advisory Council will hold a break-out group session from 11:35 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The break-out group session will not be available for public observation; however, the Advisory Council will discuss a summary of the break-out group discussion in the general session scheduled to begin at 1:15 p.m.
