IN FOCUS: 2015 GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy Changes and Beyond, Taxonomy Implementation Guides, and SEC Update

Program Description: The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) is pleased to announce an upcoming webcast that discusses the 2015 GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy Release and proposed changes to the 2015 GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy (Taxonomy) for Accounting Standards Updates (ASU) recently issued. There also will be coverage of the FASB’s growing series of Taxonomy Implementation Guides. In addition, SEC staff will discuss current XBRL filing issues.
Speakers: Louis Matherne, FASB Chief of Taxonomy Development; Donna Johaneman, FASB Project Manager-XBRL; David Shaw, FASB Assistant Project Manager-XBRL; Vickie Lusniak, FASB Assistant Project Manager-XBRL; and Kimberly Earle, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Division of Economic and Risk Analysis, Office of Structured Disclosure.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, participants will have a better understanding of how the changes in the 2015 Taxonomy Release will affect XBRL exhibits. Participants also will gain insight into current SEC XBRL filing issues, and how to use the Taxonomy Implementation Guides to support more efficient and effective XBRL document creation. Additionally, participants will learn about expected changes to future Taxonomy Releases as a result of final and proposed FASB ASUs and an update of the Taxonomy Simplification Initiative. The agenda will include:
- XBRL issues update from the Securities and Exchange Commission staff
- Overview of the 2015 Taxonomy Release (including proposed changes for ASUs)
- New 2015 Taxonomy Implementation Guides (including Offsetting Assets and Liabilities, Repurchase-to-Maturity Transactions and Repurchase Financings, and Other Comprehensive Income)

They also are encouraged to review the Taxonomy Implementation Guides and other supporting materials listed on the FASB Taxonomy page at www.fasb.org.
Recommended CPE and Field of Study: 1.5 hours; Specialized Knowledge and Applications; final CPE earned will be determined based on the length of participation in the program, polling questions as described in CPE Eligibility, and completion of a course survey. Credit is provided only to participants in the live broadcast of this course. Please note that credit is not provided for group viewing. Each participant must be registered separately and meet both polling and duration requirements as per NASBA.
